The AmericKappleik in Northfield the last weekend in July was BIG. You can find information about this five-day celebration of workshops, concerts, lectures, and dance parties on this website. This event was scheduled from July 23rd to July 27th. Torgeir Straand was playing on Friday, July 25th in the afternoon.
In 1912 Telelaget of America hosted the first-ever Hardanger Fiddle competion in America at Stoughton, Wisconsin. Folks, look at what happened July 22, 2003!
The Norwegian-American Historical Association (NAHA) has proposed a U.S. stamp in honor of Telemark folk hero "Snowshoe" Thompson. You can still help with this exciting project by writing a sample letter of suport. I have placed a sample letter on the website for your review. The address is in the header of the sample letter.
