Tarje Grover, son of Aslak Tarjeison Skrei, immigrated to the United States from Telemark, Norway, with his mother, Kristi Olavdatter Lien, one brother and two sisters in 1846. In 1857 he married Geline Kassenborg in Houston, Minnesota. He and his family moved to Clay County, Minnesota in 1874.
Thor Mikkel Hegland was born in Skafsa, Telemark, Norway in 1858. He immigrated with his parents, Mikkel and Sissel, brother Torger, and sister Christi to Fillmore County, Minnesota in the 1860's. Thor married Gunil Bjornson (1860-1897) in Fillmore County in 1887. They homesteaded outside Overly in Rolette County, North Dakota and had 4 children who survived to adulthood. Gunil died in 1897.
