Additional Information:

John Gunleiksen Bøen accompanied his daughter Astrid Johnsdatter to America, as did her brother Gunleik Johnsen Bøen.  John was 63 years old at the time.  He disappears from the records in America and may have died at Muskego.  Astrid and her husband Ole Østensen Bøen (Ole Estensen) were among the first settlers in Nicollet County, Minnesota. John was known as John Gunleiksen Mæland / Bøen and his wife was Liv Gunulvsdatter Ingolvsland.  John’s parents were Gunleik Leivulsen Bøen and Aagoth Johnsdatter Bøen (Nordistogo).  John’s daughter Aagot Johnsdatter Våtveit came to America with her son Østen Østensen in 1843.  She may have been with the father of her son, Øystein Øysteinsen Ingulvsland.  They may have settled around Bratsberg in Minnesota.
