Telelaget and the local history clubs in Telemark, Norway seek your assistance in making a database of all emigrants who left Telemark for America. We honor our ancestors from Norway as we post these database forms to the Internet. We reach out to our cousins in Norway, on the old ancestral farms, in the hope that they can answer our questions about the lives of our ancestors from Telemark. Perhaps your form will be seen by a cousin in America, a cousin that might have that old photograph that we seek. Post your family form to the emigrant database. We must ensure that the 'telers' are not forgotten:
Here is a sample form, an example for you to follow. It is not interactive, you must mail it.
Here is a blank form that you can print, then submit, and here is the .PDF version.
In the year 2007 Telelaget of America became 100 years old. Many of us proud descendants of emigrants from Telemark returned to the "homeland" in August of 2007. In preparation for the trip, many of us "posted up" forms to assist us in finding those long-lost cousins in Norway, and America. There is great interest in this posting up of forms and the project will continue.
Leading the way in Telemark was Hermod Monsen and his volunteers.
Hermod was the project manager, and we heard exciting news from Dawn Syvertsen,
also in Telemark.
Here is some information about this project:
They have a website in Telemark called "Telemark Heritage" dedicated to this project. The entire plan is presented on this website.
We also worked with our sister organization in Telemark, Telemark Historielag, to plan events in Norway, and in America.
